KV 13 (also known as Tomb of Bay or Tomb of Queen Tausert) is an ancient Egyptian tomb located in the Valley of the Kings in Luxor, Egypt. It was originally constructed for the pharaoh Tausert (also spelled Twosret) of the 19th Dynasty, but was later reused for the burial of several other individuals.
The tomb was discovered in 1817 by Giovanni Belzoni, an Italian explorer and archaeologist. It features a descending corridor that leads to a vestibule, pillared hall, and burial chamber. The walls of the tomb are decorated with elaborate scenes of Tausert and her predecessor Setnakht interacting with various deities.
KV 13 was extensively vandalized in antiquity, with many of its decorations and artifacts removed or destroyed. However, several intact objects were recovered from the tomb during Belzoni's excavation, including a large granite sarcophagus and fragments of a wooden cow-headed goddess statue.
Today, KV 13 is open to visitors as part of the Valley of the Kings archaeological park. While it is not as well-preserved as some of the other tombs in the valley, its historical significance and intriguing decoration make it a popular site for tourists and Egyptology enthusiasts.
